Batch Automation and Job Scheduling – A New Collaboration

With z/OS sites running 50 to 100 thousand or more production jobs a day, the complexity of managing the daily batch schedule has grown beyond the capability of human operators and intelligent automation is needed. Building on CA 7 as the prime repository of batch knowledge, ThruPut Manager AE+ from MVS Solutions Inc. provides batch automation and intelligence that directs z/OS execution to meet the goals of the CA 7 schedule automatically.  This novel collaboration of ThruPut Manager and CA 7 is now managing the scheduled production workload in some major sites with little need for manual intervention. The presentation will discuss the complexity of batch, highlights of the product integration, and some interesting results from the early user experiences.
