Moving from traditional real tape or virtual tape environments to tape-on-disk systems such as the EMC DLm presents unique challenges in volume conversion, device management, allocation, and reporting. This session will examine some of the issues arising when moving to a tape-on-disk environment, and will discuss the use of DTS Software’s DLm Control Center (DCC) product for volume movement, tape unit control, allocation load balancing, and message automation. The use of SMS vs. non-SMS tape, tape allocation steering, and ISPF, TSO, and graphical interfaces from DCC to the DLm will be discussed.
