DLLs first appeared for MVS users over 15 years ago, with IBM C/C++ V3R1 and IBM Language Environment for MVS V1R4, based upon MVS V5R2 (it GA'd in March of 1995).
Yet many MVS users still don't know much about either DLLs in general, nor any of the specifics of the implementation on z/OS. This session will help answer your burning questions like "What the heck is a DLL anyway?" "Do I need to write C/C++ to make a DLL, or can I write COBOL or PL/I?" and "Why would I want to use a DLL?".
After introducing some of the concepts the speaker will answer these and other questions and then go into some of the details of the whys, whats and hows of DLLs on z/OS, including comparing and contrasting them to some of the other IBM approaches that predated DLLs.
