  • Session 10680 (2.8 MB)
  • Understanding network performance and the impact it has on overall z/OS performance is an important part of formulating an integrated performance and availability management strategy. This session will discuss various examples of z/OS workload processing, and examine the impact of the network on overall performance.  Example scenarios for CICS, IMS, DB2 and WebSphere will be discussed in detail.

Suggestions on how to analyze, assess, and determine the impact of the network on overall z/OS performance will be covered.  Technical examples of performance analysis scenarios using various IBM OMEGAMON and ITCAM monitoring solutions will be shown.  How to create a more integrated, end to end monitoring strategy that includes relevant network information will be discussed.

This session is for all who want to gain a better understanding of the impact of the network on z/OS performance.  Objectives include:

Understanding the impact of the network on z/OS performance.

How to analyze typical z/OS workloads and network performance.

Analyzing performance using available tools (such as OMEGAMON).

    Recommended approaches and management strategies.
