  • CICS TS JVM Server (957.7 kB)
  • CICS has supported Java since version 2. However in CICS 4.2 we have overhauled our Java infrastructure to provide a top rate Java infrastructure for CICS transactions. In this lecture we look at this overhaul by highlighting the restrictions that the previous implementation contained and how they have been completely removed in the latest release. Whether you have been using Java in CICS for a while or never even considered it this presentation will make you want to start thinking about the advantage that Java in CICS can provide you. As an example of the next exploiter, the latest version of WebSphere Operational Decision Management for z/OS takes advantage of the new CICS Java infrastructure to provide a highly performant business rule execution environment hosted within CICS. Externalizing business rules from code gives you greater agility from your existing CICS applications by allowing you to maintaining critical business decision logic while avoiding lengthy application development cycles. The session will also cover the provision of the new Java-based Axis2 web services engine which improves the portability of web services applications and reduces the cost of deployment through increased zAAP offload.
