  • z/OS maintenance and PARMLIB management are the core competencies for any z/OS systems programmer.  But it seems that every z/OS site has its own way of managing maintenance and PARMLIBs.  This session and its companion, z/OS PARMLIB Successful Practices - User Experience, will show you successful methods for managing both of these critical z/OS competencies. Multiple speakers will present their successful methodologies for applying and rolling out maintenance.  The speakers will describe their SMP/E environments, res volume and USS filesystem setup, cloning, PARMLIBs, etc.  Pros and cons of the various maintenance methodologies will also be discussed, along with how and when to use the dynamic installation and modification features of z/OS.
