Communications 101: You Said What???

You know the story ... you heard what you thought  the other person was saying, but they didn't say what they meant. Is it any wonder that so many of our IT issues result from a breakdown in basic communications between two people. The problem has always been with us, but it is growing worse. The world we operate in today is becoming more and more global. Imagine a conference call with a number of people that are from a number of cultures or countries. Just because they are all speaking the same language doesn't mean there is any communication occurring. Throw gender differences into the mix and things just get worse. It's a wonder we ever get anything right!
