Many enterprises have turned their attention to Role Based Access Control (RBAC) in an effort to improve the efficiency and speed of security access administration, and to achieve corresponding gains in productivity and time to market. Unfortunately, and like most technical endeavors, there are good ways and wrong ways to go about a RBAC implementation. The good news is that the task can be greatly simplified with a few starting assumptions, a good RBAC tool, and a "role" vs. "resource" approach. This presentation provides guidance on how to achieve excellent RBAC results with a minimized effort, and provides relevant justifications.
