Romney White

Biographical Sketch:
Romney White was a professional hire at IBM in 1997 after a 29-year career that included two years as a co-op student with IBM Canada, 11 years at the University of Waterloo Department of Computing Services, and 16 years starting and growing several small software and consulting businesses. At IBM Canada Romney worked on a wide variety of programming projects, mostly on behalf of customers through branch offices in Toronto and then Kitchener-Waterloo. After graduating with an Honors B. Math, he joined the University of Waterloo Department of Computing Service where he became one of the first VM enthusiasts in Canada, fostering its growth at the University and gaining a worldwide reputation in the process. While at the University, Romney also earned a M. Math degree. He left Waterloo in 1981 to embark on the first of a series of VM-related entrepreneurial efforts, relocating temporarily to Boston, Massachusetts and eventually deciding to become a permanent resident of the US. After creating several other businesses in the VM market, Romney joined IBM's VM Development organization in Endicott, New York in 1997. Romney currently works for the IBM STG System z Brand organization in Architecture and Technology.
