  • Do you, as a System z person, really understand what a blade is? IBM has extended the role of the mainframe by adding new infrastucture based on the IBM BladeCenter. It is called the IBM zEnterprise BladeCenter Extension (zBX). The zBX is a fully integrated system with tested and supported hardware and firmware that houses IBM BladeCenter PS701 Express blades supporting select POWER7 and IBM x86 blade servers and workload accelerators, all managed by zEnterprise Unified Resource Manager. In this presentation, a System z mainframe guy, having never really understood what a “blade” is, sets out to understand this foreign technology that has now become a part of his world with zEnterprise.
