8552: Data Archiving in the Cloud: Reducing Total Cost of Ownership while Boosting Performance

Monday, February 28, 2011: 3:00 PM-4:00 PM
Room 204BC (Anaheim Convention Center)
Speaker: Greg Arnette (Sonian)

The archiving of data has become a growing responsibility for a variety of industries over the past several years.  Law firms in particular are faced with several challenges revolving around the management of email and message archives.  Like other firms, Partridge Snow & Hahn faced serious challenges regarding its data management, storage, litigation and regulatory liabilities.  Using a hosted, cloud-based archiving system, Partridge Snow & Hahn addressed the main drivers for data archiving: reliability, storage capacity, cost and eDiscovery readiness.

Utilizing a case study format, this presentation will give specific insights into what needs to be present on top of storage to make a cloud-based archiving infrastructure worthwhile.  Attendees will garner firsthand insights on the power of the cloud against the mounting eDiscovery and archiving regulations, which have been known to cripple smaller organizations in a growing number of industries.  Additionally, the presentation will provide overviews of alternative archiving strategies, the benefits and challenges of migrating a data archiving system to a cloud environment, how Partridge Snow & Hahn came to select a hosted, cloud-based solution and what the Firm’s experience has been since the deployment.
