Acceleration of eligible queries is based on highly sophisticated 'data in-memory' technology on blades attached to System z. In simple words - you can view this new technology as an appliance-like, transparent extension and accelerator for analytical queries running on DB2 for z/OS.
In addition, IBM Smart Analytics System 9600 is a new offering supporting Data Movement, Multidimensional Cubing services, End user tools (Cognos BI) and Data Storage (Data Warehouse). It provides integrated hardware, software and services to enable enterprise customers across all indutries to quickly and cost effectively deploy business changing analytics across their organization.
