Fit for Purpose Platform Selection

IBM offers a variety of hardware and OS platforms. Most IBM clients have a variety of platforms installed. This inevitably leads to the need for platform choices. Cloud computing will not change this, but will simply add to the platform list. This talk will focus on 'local factors', the hidden cost of sub optimization, the value of scale up processors for virtualized environments, and other key considerations in making platform choices.
