Linux and z/OS Partnership: Turkeys and Penguins - but NO BEARS, Oh My!

Monday, August 2, 2010: 1:30 PM-2:30 PM
Room 208 (Hynes Convention Center)
Speaker: Paul J. Waldowski (U.S. Senate Sergeant at Arms)

Have you thought about running Linux (Penguins) on a mainframe in production?  How about running Linux in a native LPAR using PR/SM versus using z/VM (BEARS)?  This session will cover how Websphere running under Linux is configured to work with a z/OS (Turkeys) operating system running DB2 and CICS.  These fraternal twins (Penguins and Turkeys) working together will lower your Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) from a software licensing perspective as well as mirror across a DWDM to the disaster recovery site because there are NO BEARS, Oh My!

Tracks: Architecture, Linux Systems Management and z/OS Systems Programming
