  • This session goes over key features of the CICS TS Events Processing support. It then describes and shows via examples, how this can be used to implement support for events emanating from Web 2.0 sources or other event generating business processes.

CICS continues to be the "queen" of transaction processing systems, expanding in functional capability with each new release. The latest revisions of z/OS CICS TS have significantly increased CICS's ability to handle "events" based processing, that is increasingly used in Web 2.0 type environments, "just-in-time" processing systems, and so forth.

These Web 2.0 and related initiatives are demanding new capabilities in terms of signalling business critical events, or initiating processes/transactions on the basis of reported business critical events.

This sessions focuses on how CICS can be used to provide support for these new kinds of "event based" transactions.
