As part of IBM's z/OS simplification focus, a number of improvements have been delivered to simplify z/OS Problem Determination (PD) tasks. The speaker will focus on the following technical areas:
- Requirements related to simplification of PD tasks and how these tasks relate to z/OS system programmer personas
- z/OS Management Facility (z/OSMF) Incident Log focus on PD Data Management with a quick overview of z/OSMF followed by a look inside the Incident Log function (overall architecture, user interface, CIM server, Common Event Adapter, etc.)
- Runtime Diagnostics (RTD), analyzing a sick system upon request, to identify suspicious system symptoms
- Predictive Failure Analysis (PFA), simplifying identification of so-called 'soft' errors
- Update on recent z/OS RAS enhancements
