As the Linux on System z environment continues to grow, the need for software and solutions to manage this environment also grows. IBM continues to enhance a set of software solutions to assist customers with automated operations, system management, and storage management. The session will focus on automated operations and backup and restore operations, including live demos of how to:
- Automatically take action based on messages on guest consoles and in Linux syslog data
- View and interact with live consoles, for both monitoring and debugging purposes
- Monitor and manage spool file usage
- Send alerts to a central alerting system, such as IBM Netcool/OMNIbus
- Send e-mails based on console messages, spool usage, etc.
- Automatically archive logging data when a disk approaches full
- Back up and restore z/VM and Linux on System z data
