Biographical Sketch: Bio for Bill Reeder: Bill Reeder has been with IBM 14 years. Bill was one of the original team that began Server Consolidation for IBM. That work has resulted in several different practices in IBM with Server Group, ITS and Global Services all having practices that keys off of the work done by the original team. Bill was the first person in the Americas Group working for System z responsible for selling Linux on mainframes. Bill was the first person in the Americas Group working for System z responsible for selling Linux on mainframes. Bill has been working with mainframe customers for 9 years on mainframe Linux. Bill is also one of the authors of a Red Book “Server Consolidation with Linux System z” which has helped many customers understand what their options are with running Linux on the mainframe. Bill is also the author of a white paper called “System z Linux, When and Why”. This paper outlines workloads into categories in such a way that customers can either use the list of applications or, look at the criteria for making decisions on their own workloads. Bill is a frequent lecturer at IBM Top Gun Classes, as well as many other IBM and customer events. Bill is currently responsible for System z IT Optimization and Consolidation Sales and Strategy, World Wide.
